McGuniess came to us on the 12th July 2020. He was an emergency intake after we were alerted to a poorly cat who was living as a stray and running across a main road. We went down with a scanner and no chip was found so we took him in and moved him into an emergency pop up pen because we had no other place to put him. We assessed him and it was obvious he was very poorly. We rushed him to White Cross vets and it was found he was crawling with fleas and his coat was in terrible condition, his skin was scabby from the fleas, he had severe dental disease and worms. He was given antibiotics and scheduled for an urgent dental and blood work the next morning. He was operated on and had all of his 5 remaining teeth removed and he was neutered at the same time. He was sent back to us with pain killers. Unfortunately his blood work came back showing he was positive for FIV (A condition that weakens the immune system) McGuniess is now back safe at the rescue and we will keep working on his recovery and monitoring any FIV symptoms. If he makes a recovery we see no reason why he can't go on to live a wonderful life the same as any other cat we re home. Saving this boys life has so far cost the rescue £355. A cost that adds to our already £5,000 vet bill! A lot of our rescue is privately funded but right now we cannot save McGuniess without help from the public. If you can help please consider donating. Every one of our volunteers works un paid an willingly give up their time so every penny goes to the cats. Every penn you donate will go towards saving his life. Because we think McGuniess is worth saving! Do you?
